How to prime stainless steel coils?

Stainless steel is a very versatile light metal that can be made into water tanks, stainless steel pipes, stainless steel plates and other industrial and daily necessities. Stainless steel itself has certain non-rust characteristics, but when it is in humid, acid-base, industrial atmosphere and other environments, it will still rust. Paint spraying is a more effective protective measure. The surface of stainless steel is very smooth, which also causes the adhesion of most paints to smooth substrates to be weak, and the problem of paint falling off is easy to occur. So how should stainless steel spraying be applied?

The choice of paint is very important. Shuangshi Coating ED1000 epoxy primer is a special paint for light metals. It has excellent adhesion and strong adhesion to stainless steel, aluminum alloy, aluminum plate, copper, etc. It can also be used for galvanized sheets, Carbon steel and other substrates. The spray primer of stainless steel is the key. Only by ensuring that the paint film does not fall off can it have good protection.

ED1000 epoxy primer is a two-component coating with strong adhesion and can reach the 0-level standard for stainless steel; salt spray resistance for 1000 hours and strong corrosion resistance; the substrate does not need to be sandblasted or polished, and it can be applied after removing the oil stain. Save time and effort; there is no lead, chromium and other heavy metals in the paint, which is not harmful to health and the environment; it can be matched with a variety of topcoats and the painting system is complete.

Although ED1000 epoxy primer has excellent characteristics, it is not resistant to ultraviolet rays, and weather-resistant topcoats are required for outdoor environment applications. Commonly used topcoats, such as fluorocarbon paint, acrylic polyurethane topcoat, acrylic paint, etc., can be used in conjunction with ED1000 epoxy primer.

The double-layer coating structure of primer and topcoat can better protect the substrate and ensure the long-term use of stainless steel facilities in harsh industrial environments. In addition to ED1000 epoxy primer, Shuangshi Coatings can be used for stainless steel, and there are several other products that can also be coated on stainless steel substrates.

First, preparation and conditions before spraying:

1. It is necessary to make a layer of primer on the stainless steel substrate to increase the paint adhesion, and then spray the stainless steel paint.

2. Weather conditions: The paint must be applied under fine weather conditions. It is forbidden to apply under rain, fog, snow and heavy dust. The best temperature for spraying is about 25℃ and the humidity is below 80%RH. .

3. Substrate treatment: the stainless steel substrate should be polished and oxidized. The surface should be derusted, degreasing, and clean, dry, and free of dirt. Dust should be removed and filled before the paint can be sprayed, and the substrate should be dry before spraying.

Second, spraying of stainless steel primer:

After obtaining a good surface treatment effect on the stainless steel surface (no oil, dust, and surface roughness), you can spray epoxy zinc-rich primer. The primer has good adhesion to the surface of stainless steel, especially the two-component epoxy zinc yellow primer. The paint has high adhesion, toughness, hardness, etc. which are unique to epoxy paint, and has good matching performance.

Third, stainless steel topcoat spraying:

Stainless steel paint is directly selected as the top coat. The paint is composed of imported hydroxy acrylic resin, pigments, additives, etc. The paint has strong adhesion on the surface of stainless steel, fast drying, self-drying or baking at room temperature, and has a strong protective and decorative effect. The color is fixed for the first spray. Don’t pay too much attention to the spray marks and metal stains, just spray one layer lightly to set the color. It is better to move the spraying tool a little faster, and repeat the spraying once. Can solve the problem, if the color is not enough, you can use the second spray method, and then spray again.
